cuts and transitions

Image
In the post-production process of  film  editing and video editing, a  cut  is an abrupt, but usually trivial  film  transition from one sequence to another. A  film transition  is a technique used in the post-production process of  film  editing and video editing by which scenes or shots are combined. Most commonly this is through a normal cut to the next shot.

These are the fake scars that we created with red food dye, corn starch, a teabag, staples, water, flour and a black eye liner. We experimented with the different materials to see which combinations worked best. The top photo was our first attempt, we tried to make it look like a deep cut in the middle of her hand. For the blood we used cornstarch, flour and red food colouring but we found that it was to light and orange so it looked unrealistic. On our second attempt we chose to use only food colouring for the blood, and for the darker inside part of the cut, we cut a tea bag open and mixed it with the red food dye. This made the cut look much more realistic and gory which was our aim. After, we put staples into the wax so that it looked like they were hanging out, this made it look more effective and painful as well as realistic, our third and fourth attempts were the best because we understood how apply the wax and blood so that it looked realistic, and I think we achieved th...

casting

I chose to cast Maddy because she showed the best character expression and movement, which I knew would be one of the most important parts of my film as I had planned not to use a script or any dialogue. Therefore, I knew that she would be good for the role, and could improvise for the majority of the film, with my direction. I also chose Maddy because she suited my aesthetic, her hair is dark and so represented the mood, she was the right age that I had imagined and she was confident and comfortable in front of the camera. I had interviewed a few other people for the role to ensure that I had chosen the right actor: some weren't as comfortable in front of the camera, others weren't as good at conveying emotion through their character expression, others looked too old or young and some just didn't suit the aesthetic of the film.

(POST SEVEN) WHAT'S IN THE NEWS? A Texas inmate has taken a ride on the roof of a police car after clambering out of the window.  Martin Gregory Estrada, 31, was being transported between facilities when he slipped from his handcuffs, shattered the passenger window, and climbed onto the roof of the car.  The inmate managed to balance himself on the top of the vehicle, and the officer continued driving until the help he had summoned arrived.  A video taken by other motorists shows the man sitting on the moving car, then leaping from the roof as it slows and is approached by other vehicles.  He is then apprehended by the arriving officers.   Authorities said that Estrada was being transported 150 miles (241km) from a hospital facility where he had allegedly assaulted someone.  He is now being held on charges including escape and unauthorised use of a vehicle. Short film idea: The film starts with an arial shot of a police car...
