WHAT'S IN THE NEWS?

A Texas inmate has taken a ride on the roof of a police car after clambering out of the window.
Martin Gregory Estrada, 31, was being transported between facilities when he slipped from his handcuffs, shattered the passenger window, and climbed onto the roof of the car.

The inmate managed to balance himself on the top of the vehicle, and the officer continued driving until the help he had summoned arrived. A video taken by other motorists shows the man sitting on the moving car, then leaping from the roof as it slows and is approached by other vehicles. He is then apprehended by the arriving officers.

Authorities said that Estrada was being transported 150 miles (241km) from a hospital facility where he had allegedly assaulted someone. He is now being held on charges including escape and unauthorised use of a vehicle.
Short film idea:

The film starts with an arial shot of a police car driving on a desert road (in the centre of the screen) possibly in slow-motion, the shot lasts for about 10-20 seconds as it slowly zooms in, the camera then moves inside the car to a beaten up inmate. The two policemen in the front of the car are taunting the inmate trying to provoke a reaction. The audience has no idea who the inmate is or what has happened to him, but it looks as though he won't be able to escape very easily, the camera is still on his face as the audience can still hear the policemen talking at him but he doesn't respond. There is then a flash back to a fight where the prisoner appears to be losing as he lies on the floor, the audience is immediately aware that the prisoner has been in trouble- the flashback only last for a few seconds and the actions are very fast. It is unclear whether it is the prisoners fault or not, so the audience are torn as to whether they should root for his escape or not. After the flashback ends, there is a close-up of his hands as he escapes from his handcuffs, he then uses his handcuffs to smash the window and climbs out. The camera is now outside the car so the audience can see the inmate climb out of the window, he climbs onto the roof, the car breaks and then the screen goes black, leaving the audience to wonder what happens next.
