casting

I chose to cast Maddy because she showed the best character expression and movement, which I knew would be one of the most important parts of my film as I had planned not to use a script or any dialogue. Therefore, I knew that she would be good for the role, and could improvise for the majority of the film, with my direction. I also chose Maddy because she suited my aesthetic, her hair is dark and so represented the mood, she was the right age that I had imagined and she was confident and comfortable in front of the camera. I had interviewed a few other people for the role to ensure that I had chosen the right actor: some weren't as comfortable in front of the camera, others weren't as good at conveying emotion through their character expression, others looked too old or young and some just didn't suit the aesthetic of the film.
